Sometimes you just desperately want to shed your serfdom and become one of the cool kids, whose internet posts are adored by millions. Here's some simple tips to help you achieve that goal.
1. Use a gif
No matter how lame (like the one above, apparently about lightning deflating your tires) gifs are completely enchanting. You find yourself watching them over and over. They'll not only express your innermost thoughts with pinpoint accuracy, but will also get you noticed.
2. Do a review of some obscure vehicle
It's doesn't even have to be a cool vehicle, just anything that most people don't have regular access to. I'm thinking about doing the new !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I bet that's oddball enough that no one else has already done it, and we've got a whole row of them at work.
3. Make your post in the form of a list
1. Lists are hot.
2. People click on lists.
3. I click on lists that list things that I couldn't care less about, just because I still strangely want to see what made the list.
4. David Letterman was way ahead of his time.
5. Lists get shared. After I finish this list, I'm going to make a list that will attract the eye of the Jalopnik elite. Maybe something like " The 16 best car lists on the Internet."
4. Post it on the weekend
Let's face it, Ballaban needs to fill space, and sharing witty posts is the easiest way to do it. As long as there's not a ton of crashes going on in some race that you've never heard of, you're in.
